When used with Snapper CL15, Rig 200 includes support for an IDE hard drive. This hard drive option consists of a Module board with mounting points for a supplied, typically 160GB 2.5" IDE hard drive. This provides a large data storage option for Rig 200 for use in mass storage applications where NAND flash options are prohibitively expensive.
The hard drive can be mounted either on the Module board or underneath Rig 200 next to the batteries. Suitable mounting hardware is provided for this. A suitable IDE cable is also supplied which is the only connection between the Hard Drive Option and Rig 200. All power for the hard drive is supplied from Rig 200 and battery operation is supported. All drivers are provided to enable the drive to operate as expected in a Linux environment. WinCE support is available on request.
While 3.5" drives are not directly supported, this is possible using an adaptor cable when powered from mains or PoE (Power over Ethernet). The high current and power requirements of these drives do not lend themselves to battery operation, although it is possible. Using two 3.5" drives, storage capacities up to 2GB can be achieved.
