Display Plus

With a vast range of different display panels available in the market, it is often difficult to find a board which will drive the particular display you require. Rig 200 Display Plus solves this problem by providing the largest possible range of display driving options in one small board. The following types of display are supported:

• Monochrome LCD displays from 1 bit per pixel (bpp) to 8bpp
• Colour LCD displays using digital RGB from 8bpp to 24bpp
• Colour LCD displays using LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signalling) up to 24bpp

Display Plus includes a programmable logic device which can be programmed to support the particular timing requirements of almost any display. This allows the following features:

• Changing the order of RGB data on the digital lines
• Add additional timing signals generated from the basic signals
• Modifying the basic timing signals to alter their timing
• Buffering (delaying) of display data for short periods to meet timing requirements

A range of connectors is provided on the Display Plus module:

• Sharp 3.5 inch 240x320 display
• Sharp 6, 8, 10, 12 inch digital RGB with resolutions from 640x480 to 800x600
• LVDS to support displays from 12 to 25 inch and resolutions to 1024x768
• Sony ACX 240x160 display with front-light (a low cost colour display)

A range of LCD displays is also available with Display Plus. Where necessary, a back light inverter and suitable connector cable is also supplied.

Note that Rig 200 also provides a VGA connector on the baseboard, which can be used to connect a standard desktop CRT or LCD monitor.
