RealView Versatile/PB926EJ-S
High performance platform with Jazelle, DSP and MBX
The Versatile Platform Baseboard for ARM926EJ-S provides means of prototyping
advanced 3D graphics platforms making use of ARM and PowerVR MBX cores. It also
supports the MOVE coprocessor, for MPEG encode acceleration, Jazelle for Java
acceleration and a Vector Floating Point (VFP) coprocessor for high speed
3D graphics transformations.
The core of the board is a highly integrated ARM926EJ-S based chip specifically
designed for the platform, and incorporating much of the IP in silicon.
Development Chip Features
The development chip on the board features the following:
- ARM926EJ-S processor
- Jazelle Java acceleration hardware
- DSP extensions
- PowerVR MBX 3D Graphics accelerator
- MOVE coprocessor, hardware acceleration for MPEG encode
- Vector Floating Point (VFP) coprocessor, hardware assist for floating point arithmetic
- Off chip AHB bridges and system monitor for cycle accurate system prototyping
- Memory sub-system including DMA controller with a choice of static and dynamic memory and boot options
- Vectored interrupt controller for higher performance interrupt handling
- Peripherals essential for operating system support, including JTAG run-control and Trace ports
Baseboard Memory
The baseboard has a number of memory options:
- 128 MB of 32-bit SDRAM
- 64 MB of Intel NOR flash
- 64 MB of NAND flash (Disk-on-chip)
- 2 MB SRAM
- AMD Spansion flash memory upgrade board (2x 64 Mbit, 2x 256 Mbit)

Software Support
The Versatile platform supports ARM Embedded Linux, SymbianOS, ThreadX, WindowsCE
and other RTOSs.
A support CD is included with pre-built binaries of ARM Embedded Linux (2.4) and SymbianOS 7s, as well as a boot monitor.
The CD also includes Verilog HDL for the baseboard FPGA and documentation. Firmware provided includes:
