» Find Out MoreThe RealView Versatile family provides a compelling alternative to Integrator where the highest performance is required. The Versatile family uses a single fixed processor mounted on the platform board, this allowing higher clock speeds for many components.
Memory and internal bus speeds of up to 75MHz are supported, with the expansion AHB bus running at up to 50MHz. These numbers compare with typically 40MHz and 33MHz for Integrator platforms. Versatile also sports a multi-layer bus architecture, PrimeCell memory controllers and DMA, vectored interrupt controller and a high density interconnect to logic tiles.
For high-speed 3D graphics with MBX, Versatile includes a silicon implementation running at around 70MHz, compared to the FPGA implementation under 20MHz.
As noted above, the Versatile family supports only a single processor board, based around the ARM926EJ-S. For a choice of processor, Integrator is still the most flexible platform. Versatile achieves its higher performance at the cost of this flexibility, since parts of the system are implemented in the ARM926EJ-S chip rather than the system FPGA.
A Versatile system consists of the following components:
