RealView Developer Kit for XScale

Low cost option for those who only use Intel XScale

RVDS includes support for all ARM chips including XScale. However, there is also an XScale-specific version which only supports XScale.

RVDS for XScale Developer Kit includes the compilation tools and debugger for XScale only. It also includes a Multi-ICE unit. XScale is an implementation of the ARM architecture by Intel. This toolkit provides a very low cost way of getting access to an RVDS + ICE kit if all you need to use is XScale.

The following chipsets are supported. Contact us if the one you require is not listed here. Note that PXA27x is not supported at present (Apr-05).

Limitations

In order to offer a low price on this product the following limitations exist: If any of these is too limiting for your application, please consider purchasing the full toolkit.

Power Requirements

The ARM RealView Developer Kit for Intel XScale Technology-Based Processors has been supplied with a Multi-ICE unit designed to draw its power from the JTAG connector (pin 2 Vsupply) of a target board.

In the event of a connection to an Intel XScale board where the Vsupply pin is not connected or can not deliver sufficient power, an external power supply can be connected.

Power can be provided to the Multi-ICE unit using the power input jack from a consumer power supply with a 2.1mm DC power connector. The power supply must be rated to deliver between 5V and 9V DC at 500mA minimum. If you use the external power jack, you can connect to targets using logic voltages of 1V to 5V.

Power supplies can be obtained from any local electrical retail outlet.
